The Kinks made a triumphant return to commercial success and universal acclaim with this stunning blockbuster album in that found them back in the standard rock band outfit and back on the top of the charts. Sleepwalker highly showcase a timeless combination of first rate melodies, complex rock and roll, astounding high/5(42).

  2. Mar 19,  · Ray Davies returns to simple rock tunes with 's "Sleepwalker". The title track and "Juke Box Music" are the standout songs here. Maybe not The Kinks most memorable work overall, but still fun to give a listen/5().

  3. As I say in all my Kinks reviews, the lyrics are once again top notch. Standouts to me are Life on the Road, Life Goes On (I think one of their best), Juke Box Music, Brother and Sleepwalker. Listening to this album made me think of the movie Dazed & Confused. I really think this album could have served as the movie's soundtrack/5(62).

Nearly identical (same runouts, etc.) to The Kinks - Sleepwalker,but with label variation (33 1/3 RPM appears above Side 1 and Side 2 on the labels).Similar labels to The Kinks - Sleepwalker, but with larger pressing ring. MASTERDISK RL in runouts indicates the who and where of lacquer cuts, NOT mastering details (there are no mastering credits on inner sleeve).4/5(2).

  8. Comprised entirely of glossy arena rockers and power ballads, the album is more of a stylistic exercise than a collection of first-rate songs. Ray Davies contributed a handful of fairly strong songs, highlighted by the exceptional "Juke Box Music," which sees him in a shockingly resigned frame of mind, claiming that rock & roll is just rock & roll, and nothing more.
